From volunteering to new product partnerships to an emphasis on vintage, we are proud to share the many ways our brands celebrated Earth Month this year, helping us in our efforts to Respect our Planet. Anthropologie embarked on a journey toward a more regenerative future with a new partnership with Kiss the Ground, a nonprofit promoting soil regeneration. Anthropologie’s $100,000 donation to Kiss the Ground aims to inspire and catalyze the transition of 10,000 acres of land into regenerative agriculture. Terrain hosted a series of in-store workshops for customers where proceeds were donated to Kiss the Ground.
Anthropologie introduced a new lineup of basics crafted from third-party certified regenerative cotton. This collection reimagined customer favorites in a more responsible way. Free People hosted their 5th Annual Clean Up Week. 293 volunteers cleaned up 5.97 tons of trash across Philadelphia neighborhoods. In addition, FP donated $50,000 to the National Parks Foundation.
The FP Free-est store in Palm Beach held its 2nd Surf Day with a cleanup at Clocktower Beach. 27 attendees and Free-est employees worked together to remove trash from our waterways.
Free People celebrated the Citizens of Humanity + AGOLDE’s regenerative cotton launch with an intimate and informative dinner. Attendees had the opportunity to learn more about regenerative agriculture, how the line came to be, and how these styles fall into our Care FP category of responsible materials. Urban Outfitters launched Vintage and ReMade, with the goal of making UO the #1 destination for Vintage (UO MRKT, Vintage, One-Of-A-Kind Product) and Remade (Recreated, Renewal, and Exclusive Remade Product). Customers now have a one stop shop for authentic one-of-a-kind finds and special curated collections, as well as exclusive upcycled pieces that are refreshed, customized or created from deadstock fabrics. Nuuly launched the Re_Nuuly collaboration with Zero Waste Daniel, the Brooklyn-based clothing designer and zero-waste lifestyle pioneer. The Re_Nuuly x Zero Waste Daniel collection tells the story of the upcycling process through visibly reworked details and butterfly motifs that symbolize transformation.
Tasked with upcycling 1,300 denim garments retired from Nuuly’s rental inventory, Zero Waste Daniel redesigned and repurposed the out-of-circulation styles into a capsule collection of ten new styles to be reintroduced to the rental assortment.
Since 2021, the Re_Nuuly program has extended the life of over 5,800 previously retired garments. The Philadelphia Home Office celebrated Earth Month with a variety of events for employees to participate in. On campus, employees could shop a pop up market filled with local sustainable vendors or help create a community rug in a workshop hosted by FabScrap. Off campus, 150 URBN employees spent a Friday cleaning up a West Philly neighborhood for ACHIEVEability’s Impact Day (read more!).
Home Office wrapped up Earth Month with a customization workshop hosted by FabScrap at Reclectic, URBN’s latest endeavor to find more eco-conscious solutions for products that can’t be sold at retail. Attendees gave new life to garments with patches created by fabric waste. 100% of ticket proceeds and 5% of Reclectic sales, totaling over $7,000 were donated to FabScrap.
